The Scottish Government have released an independent research paper on short-term lets. This independent research, carried out by the Indigo House Group and the government’s Short-Term Lets Delivery Group (STLDG), was commissioned with the intent of supporting an evidence-based approach to regulation for short-term lets.
The STLDG is made up of representatives from across government sectors including planning, housing and tourism, and the research was undertaken with the intent of gauging the positive and negative impact of short-term lets, especially considering the effect on housing in neighbourhood communities. This impact was explored from the point of view of short-term let users, hosts, community members, residents and businesses.
